Come fall 2014 Peterborough & the Kawarthas will have a new hotel – Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel will be located off the Parkway nearby the Greater Peterborough Visitor Information Centre in the City of Peterborough. The Roshan Group will build the project.
The hotel will feature between 110 and 135 suites and rooms on 5 floors. An additional 2 floors is being sought after by the developer which needs City approval. The significant part of this deal is the creation of enough conference space to handle close to 1,000 delegates. This is great news because will can now accommodate larger conferences and meetings that we could not in the past. So Peterborough & the Kawarths will experience a huge economic impact in the future. In particular our hospitality and accommodations sectors will directly benefit from the influx of conference delegates throughout the year.
The project is slated to begin construction this summer with a planned opening in 2014. When fully operational the hotel will employ 36 workers.
Over the coming weeks and months the Roshan Group will be working with Peterborough and the Kawarthas Tourism to attract the many conferences and large meetings that take place in any given year.
