What You Need to Know About Uses Permitted in Prime Agricultural Areas Training Session

Event Date:
Thursday, November 2, 2023

Event Time: 10:00am to 12:00pm

The Agriculture Economic Development and Planning Community of Practice is hosting a training session on permitted uses in prime agricultural areas.  Diversification creates economic opportunities for farm operators and their families, stimulates the rural economy through jobs and increased tax base, and fosters awareness and appreciation of agriculture.

This online, interactive webinar, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, will include:

  • an overview of provincial policies and guidance on permitted uses in prime agricultural areas, to inform those new to the topic, and to provide a handy refresher for others.
  • an opportunity to hear about municipal best practices from municipalities themselves.
  • information on tools that will make it easier to support diversified uses in your municipality.

Based on the input provided when signing up, the session will also address new and challenging areas.  For example, we plan to discuss municipal approaches to battery storage facilities, given the recent interest in such facilities to help meet Ontario’s rising electricity demand.
