A Quinte West manufacturer has an opportunity to modernize production and increase capacity to meet increasing demand for their products.

Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith announced $1,030,000 to Global Med Inc. on Friday in support of the company's more than $2.2 million investment for expanded production at its 76,000 sq. ft facility on North Murray St. in Trenton.

Vice president and general manager Al Flieler said the money is going to be allocated to a variety of different elements of the business.

This includes expansion of ERP (Enterprise resource software planning) system, updating technologies with automation, and product development.

The new investment will also see four new production lines added to the facility, which will all provide an accelerated path to get items out faster to companies and consumers.

“We definitely believe it is going to help us advance the organization much faster than where we would have been,” said Flieler at the announcement.

“Because of all the investment that we continually make, this definitely allows us to continue that process in a timely manner.”

Flieler added this would allow for economic growth opportunity, with the need for non-invasive plastic medical tubings and fittings increasing among businesses and consumers.
