Kingston Manufacturing Shows Positive Signs of Growth

Kingston, ON has a strong, diverse manufacturing sector that serves many industries locally, provincially, nationally, and globally.  Our company visit program tells us that there is positive momentum in the manufacturing sector with strong growth being predicated across the community.  As the economies of Ontario and Canada continue to recover from the recent economic downturn, the Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) continues to support and assist many Kingston businesses with expanding their operations this year, labour market development, and the creation of industry/ academic partnerships

As evidenced in both the Provincial and Federal budgets, efficiencies are being called for to reduce deficits and this includes relooking at the provision of goods and services to the Government.  There are many opportunities for private businesses to benefit as a supplier to the government.  The Government of Canada buys just about every kind of good and service across many sectors including manufacturing.  They purchase anything from aircraft to paper clips, from training services to scientific research. Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is a common service agency responsible for a significant portion of these government procurement opportunities.

On May 1, 2012, the Kingston Economic Development Corporation in partnership with The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) Public Works and Government Services Canada presents the workshop “Doing Business with the Government of Canada: Understanding the Process – the Fundamentals”.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The fundamentals of selling goods and services to the Government of Canada
  • What you need to do to become a supplier
  • Registering your company
  • Searching for opportunities
  • Marketing your product or service

The workshop is free to attend, however participants must register in advance with Lenore Hass at reception@kingstoncanada.com
