Brockville, ON – May 3, 2017 – Robert (Rob) George Nolan, MBA, M.A.E.S., B.E.S. has been appointed the new Director of Economic Development at the Corporation of the City of Brockville.
Mr. Nolan is an economic development professional with 20 years’ experience at delivering programs and strategy development at the local, regional and national levels. Rob Nolan’s most recent role was as the Manager, Investment Attraction for the Regional Municipality of Durham; responsible for leading the Region’s efforts to attract new foreign direct investment. Prior to joining Durham Region, Rob worked for the City of Toronto’s Economic Development department as the Manager of Sector and Strategic Partnerships and as Senior Consultant with Millier Dickinson Blais (now MDB Insight), providing economic development consultancy services to municipalities across Canada.
Rob also spent more than 12 years working in the United Kingdom, much of this time with the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), one of 9 regional development agencies in the UK. While at SEEDA, Rob held a number of roles in strategy and corporate planning, investment attraction and investor development. Rob also worked for a local investment promotion agency (West London Inward) and the UK’s national investment promotion agency (the then Invest in Britain Bureau).
Rob has received his Economic Development certification (Ec.D.) from the Economic Developers Association of Canada and has a Master in Business Administration from the University of Kingston (London), as well as a Master in Applied Environmental Studies (MAES) and undergraduate degree (BES) from the University of Waterloo.
Rob Nolan will be responsible for all aspects of Economic Development including Investment Attraction and Retention as well as review and revision of the most recent Economic Development Strategy (2009) undertaken by the City of Brockville...
