Position: Business Development Officer (Temporary Full-time)

Start Date: April 15, 2019
2018 Salary Grid E: $30.00 to $39.48/hour
Location: Brockville, Ontario

Position Summary:

The Business Development Officer will work to improve economic growth through business and community development activities and programs that supports the Leeds Grenville Economic Development Plan.

Reporting to the Manager of Economic Development, the position will support business retention, development, investment and growth activities that positively influence the competitiveness of local businesses in the global marketplace. The incumbent will coordinate and support regional initiatives, which progressively encourage sector and cluster development, community leadership, and growth of the Counties and its municipalities.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary college education related to Business, Economic Development, and Finance with a minimum of four (4) years of experience, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience or education related to business development;
• Strong and proven background in business planning, sales, marketing, human resources, operations and finance;
• Business organizational and project management skills – planning, organizing, designing, implementing, multi-tasking, time management and detail orientated;
Extensive knowledge and experience in research and grant proposal writing of government sponsored funding programs;
• Strong knowledge of the Counties, its member municipalities, industry sectors and the business community;
• Superior English language communication skills including document writing, along with development and delivery of presentations;
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to network, build working relationships with diverse stakeholder groups including industry, government, community leaders and volunteers, facilitate, lead research, negotiate and resolve issues;
• Professionalism, diplomacy, good judgement in all actions and activities;
• Ability to conduct and analyze economic, demographic and market research;
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook), CRM system and Analyst;
• Sound judgment and ability in handling matters of a confidential and/or sensitive nature as it relates to senior business executives, Council and other senior staff;
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
• Must be willing to travel frequently to locations within the geographic location of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and occasionally outside the Counties;
• A valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle is required;
• Working knowledge of applicable legislation and policies;
