Sprouting New Connections: Scaling Up! Workshop

Event Date:
Thursday, October 19, 2017

9:30am to 2:00pm

A half-day speaker series on Oct. 19 in Long Sault will feature resources and information for small scale producers and agri-food businesses who are looking to scale up in the region.

It’s called Sprouting New Connections: Scaling Up! The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Stormont Hall in Long Sault, the event being hosted by All Things Food/Bouffe 360, in partnership with several organizations.

“The workshop came out of an SDG and Cornwall Food and Agriculture Advisory Council meeting, (which discussed) local food procurement and some of the challenges for some of the small agri-food businesses in our region who want to scale up,” explained Kat Rendek, the All Things Food network co-ordinator.

Topics for the workshop will include innovation and the value of a shared economy, delivery/distribution, health and safety requirements, packaging, labelling, food traceability and key resources in the area.

“The day will conclude with an interactive question-and-answer panel of local business owners with lived experience scaling up their business to meet emerging markets, (so) come prepared with questions” Rendek said. “They’re people in our community, business owners – they’ve been through the hurdles (that can be involved).”
